$2,520 from a simple idea

1 Attachment(s)
Ok....today is Thursday, Mar 10, 2011. I started this project on Monday, Mar 7.

I made a "mock-up" of a "Take-Out" menu for a local restaurant. Sold 3 spots on it on Monday @ $260 ea (=$780) I charge $260 + $30 SetUp but, on my first few sales I offer to Drop the SetUp Fee PROVIDED....they give me their Order....NOW!

So...on Mon I got 3 biznesses to go for $260ea. I then proceeded to sell 6 more spaces at $290ea ($290 x 6 = $1740)...for Total of $$780 + $1740 = $2,520.

Not bad for a few days "work" and....my cost will be less than $100...so....I will Net $2,420.....just from an Idea....2 hours on my PC and a little gas money visiting prospects.

I have 3 other restaurants lined up who WANT....MY...."Take-Out" menus.

And....again....I could parachute into ANY town in America....get a restaurant to agree to accept my FREE, Take-Out Menus....and....contact the local biznesses the restaurant owner TELLS ME TO CONTACT....and walk out of the town with over $2,000 in my pocket.

Only in America!....thus far!

Don Alm....entroopeneer and idea guy
P.S. Here what my "Take-Out Menu" looks like ON THE ACTUAL LOCATION
Take a look!
Notice that it's FULL Color....plus....I add in something that makes it almost "irresistable" for Advertisers to refuse to participate.

Hi Don,

You mentioned that your costs are less than $100. Can you tell us how many take out menus you print for the restaurants and over how much of a timespan?

Thanks,
Marc

Don, you got me, so I gotta ask ...

What is your "special sauce" that "makes it almost 'irresistable' for Advertisers?"

thanks!

From what Ive seen most people do around 2500-5000 to start. Not sure on time span.

I am working on this business idea myself right now I will be sure to post my results. I have a lot of other stuff going on so not able to dedicate much time to this but so far I have made some business cards, websites, and picked up a couple of takeout menus + 11x17 legal paper to copy them to + advertisements.

Once I finish the website I figure I will go get approval from restaurants, and then I'll find advertisers. Last time I tried this (when I had practically no time at all to work on it so I never finished) I had a difficult time getting only one person to pay me $100 for an adspot, let alone $290 ...

I think I am going to offer like $50 per thousand ads or maybe even less. I'll have to see what people are willing to pay I will of course start higher.

I thought so. :( I had absolutely zero luck with finding advertisers so far... I went to every local business and had all answers of no. Ive been in sales since I was 14, I dont take first no, and in general I normally have above avg results in most any field of sales.. I enjoy door to door and in person business sells, but I got shot down hard by everyone!

I am hoping thats because I live in a very small city where every single local business is off of a couple mile stretch of Hwy.. And they all say pretty much the same thing any advertising seems to bring in the same customers..... So I guess I will wait until we move to nacogdoches a bigger city and I'll try again there.

(Oh and getting the restaurant to let you give them free menus that part is extremely easy!)

I did pickup some business cards from small work for themselves people and I'll try calling them.. Even if I can cover my cost Im going to do it just for the heck of it and put some of my own advertisements on it.
