Here's an interesting take on project funding.

People post their projects and others pledge bucks. If the pledge goal is met by enough people making pledges, the project gets funded. No money changes hands until the pledge goal is met. If the goal isn't met, the pledges are void.

Hey Boz. That's an interesting site. I'm about to launch one overhauled and three new "how to write fiction" sites (in a few months). Would be interesting to see how funding for that would work.
