Another unusual new trend, from (where else?) Los Angeles...
Here's a new trend that's apparently a hit in Los Angeles...
The idea is - Karaoke-Yoga! As the name suggests, it's doing yoga... while simultaneously doing karaoke... You do this as a whole class. That is everybody does yoga, and sings at the same time! (You might want to wear ear plugs...) Apparently, the group singing helps you feel more connected to the others in the class... Is this just one of those fads? Or will it stick? I can think of a lot of spin-offs... I think the next trend could be karaoke-boxing... Where you have a boxing match, with both boxers singing karaoke... It could take off... ;) Here's where you can read more about karaoke yoga! http://www.timeslive.co.za/lifestyle...e-new-la-trend And here's a video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLxnQhImmLw Best wishes, Dien |

I can imagine that doing the class is very enjoyable... (I do a form of "karaoke-driving" as many people do! That's because it's fun... :) ) So - it's a good idea, despite my earlier light-hearted mocking, I actually think it's great... :) Best wishes, Dien |

Yoga Grows Dr to Dr Saleswoman to #1 Realtor-Silicon Valley
Thanks Dien,
I actually have a Realtor Client Who uses Yoga to get scared Foreclosed Home owners to Talk to her. PICTURE THIS... You Open the door. You see a Middle Aged Woman doing YOGA on your porch. DOES the Home owner PULL A Gun? (It's happened to my clients) Yell. Scream? Threaten? NOPE. They ask, "What are you doing?" And Vicki explains how Yoga Relaxes her and takes away stress. Heh Heh She talks them out of Their BAD MOOD into a Positive Frame of Mind. ONLY then does she tell them how she can s ell their house and leave them a profit - using a Special deal with their bank. Thanks, Glenn |

The evolving luxury market...
Quote:
That last link (on the evolving luxury market) reminds me of something I read once (sorry I don't have the source)... I read that during downturns, people don't give up luxuries. Instead, they just buy more affordable, less expensive luxuries... So, the "luxury" market never disappears. Instead of the luxury of a very expensive dinner, they still might eat out, just at a lower-priced restaurant, or simply buy a cheaper "luxury" item, like bars of chocolate, to indulge in... Another broad thing I've noticed (which evolves over decades) is the "Americanization" (or "Westernization") of overseas practices. For example, karaoke-yoga I would say is quite different from yoga as it has been practiced for thousands of years in India. Yoga has already been known in the US for many decades, and karaoke-yoga is another step in the "Americanization" of something which originated overseas. (It is interesting that both karaoke and yoga originated from different parts of Asia, but it took an American to put the two ideas together!) Another one could be the "eastern" martial arts. Ultimate Fighting (the UFC) could be said to be the result of the "Americanization" of various eastern martial arts, like jiu jitsu, karate, muay thai boxing, and so on... The question then arises... Are there other "overseas" popular practices, which could be "imported" and "Westernized" in a profitable way? Best wishes, Dien |

I love it - that's a great story! Doing yoga I'm sure is very non-threatening... :) It's probably so unusual, too, that it "jolts" people into being curious about what she's going to say! Best wishes, Dien |
Here's another fusion idea...
Ultimate fighting flower arranging!
Cheers. -- TW |
I can see it now...
Quote:
I can really see it taking off! It could be incorporated into the training... Just as in the Karate Kid, the master taught... wax on, wax off... The Ultimate Fighting training could be... petals left, petals right... Hmm... (UFC, please don't sue me!) ;) - Dien |
