Who else to study?

Wonderful forum...I enjoyed perusing the archives...

I have already picked up on some new people to study after readin a lot of threads here. Namely Joseph Cossman, Bob Livingston, and several others.

Who else is good to read up on?

The more esoteric, rare, and eccentric, the better.

I'm already up on Halbert, Saurez, Karbo. Guys like that.

Prefer "under the radar" types. These pseudo-celebrity "flaunt it all" marketers will regret their decision to "become the obvious expert" as America continues to slide into Euro-Socialism 2.0

Many thanks.

I expect to be hearing from the Nobel Prize committee any day now, for my recent discovery of the creation of the universe.

I'm sure you're familiar with the Big Bang theory. The question is, where did all that stuff come from?

I have solved this riddle!

There is a principle of space that states that there is no such thing as extra space, as stuff will expand to fit any available space.

Look in any garage, shed, closet, or spare bedroom, anywhere in the world for proof of this principle.

The act of creation was a mistake, where the creator sought to create some extra space without being aware of this principle. WHAMMO, his so called extra space was instantly filled with stuff.

"I'd like to thank the committee, and all my supporters over at SowPub..."

Re: Who else to study? Rodney Dangerfield

Great question!

Did you know Rodney Dangerfield was a professional Salesman, marketer?

For Years - He ran a business that sold and installed windows and aluminum siding.

LATER -

99 of 100 comics struggle.

Rodney owned his own comedy club.

AT THE SAME TIME -

Rodney wrote, acted in and produced his own Movies.

I've got all of his Comedy Albums and the book that he wrote
just before he died.

Why?

The guy was a master psychologist. His book AND his routines are full of
GEMS. Like how to get a room full of strangers to LIKE YOU using self
deprecating story telling.

Rodney knew NICHE MARKETING. He changed his routine to reflect his audience.

To hit their HOT BUTTONS.

I got his book off of amazon.com

One of the stories that shows you just how good a salesman Rodney was:

Rodney did a big job for a guy in Chicago. Was doing standup in a Club Hangout for local mobsters. They all liked Rodney.

Rodneys employer stiffed him for 150Grand of window replacement work.

So he asked the Mob Boss who called him over to his table to tell jokes to
the girl friend - "What should I do? I can't pay my people. They trusted me."

The mob guy said, "You're a friend. I'll take care of it."

That same night his crooked employer
showed up with the cash - shaking like a leaf.

That's great stuff, Glenn! I love Rodney Dangerfield. Ed McMahon was also a good salesman and has a book out as well. Cheers!

Thanks Glenn - great post!

Sounds like a great book... I've added it to my list of books to read...

One comedian of the past who I'd wish had written an autobiography is Jackie Gleason.

(He's probably most famous for his 1950s TV show, "The Honeymooners"... which also was the template for the cartoon characters, "The Flintstones". Note that when I say "The Honeymooners," I mean the 1950s TV show, not the 2005 movie...)

In "The Honeymooners," Ralph Kramden pursued several crazy "get-rich-quick" schemes...

And Jackie Gleason sounds like he was quite entrepreneurial himself, in developing his own acts and shows in order to survive in the difficult world of comedy and night clubs...!

By the way, your post has made me realize another book from the "entertainment industry" with many great business lessons in it... I'll post more about that soon... :)

Best wishes,

Dien

SCARY NLP Copywriting from Ellen Degeneris

Thanks Casey,

I'm working on a NLP Copywriting Series for Beginners. NLP Copy Cubs are
Those folks who are walking around in a FUNK UNaware of who is Hypnotizing
them into buying things.

ELLEN Degeneris is one of those DANGEROUS folks.

Here's some Proof.

Ellen wrote a book called "Seriously...I'm Kidding"

The book title uses NLP Psychology to get inside your half asleep brain and SLAP you awake.

THEN the 1st sentence says this. (Which I have shortened.)

"You'll find lots of new things in this book including 400.00 - so I think You
should buy multiple copies!"

YEARS AGO
I interviewed a #1 Car S alesman
who also taught Psychology in college.

He call Ellen's 1st Sentence "The MUNNY Phrase." In car S ales you NEED a INVISIBLE MUNNY PHRASE when car buying prospects say, "I can get this same car Cheaper down the block."

Then the car Salesman has to have a way to say, "But you Like and Trust me
better so gimme the sale."

ELLEN The Hypnotic Comedy Genius doesn't PLAY.

She uses Hypnotic Words to REACH Directly into your wallet thru
Your Emotions in the FIRST SENTENCE in the DARN BOOK.

There's more to it, of course.

But You Can Learn a lot about sales from SUPER SALES PRO's - and Ellen
is Literally REACHING into the readers' Pocket.

SCARY good. And she makes it looks so Easy too.

Thanks,
Glenn Osborn

P.S. - Here's my SECRET to dealing with WRITERS BLOCK. And it doubles
or triples your writing speed while IMPROVING the quality of everything you put into print.
