Flooding continues in E. Australia-MIA

Thought I would post a link here for you re. Steve Ski and his local weather conditions. We talked on Skype a couple of days ago but now MIA, hopefully to higher grounds.

Not sure where in Bundaberg he lives, some 5 miles outside but in what direction since water seems to be everywhere.

Stay dry Steve!

Hi, Eva - I watched the video about the floods in Bundaberg; not a pretty sight and it's going to take a lot of work to return the town and infrastructure to full working order.

Hi Eva, Margaret, and everyone...

Yes, when I heard about how Bundaberg was very seriously hit by floods, I did think of Steve, and I hope that he and Susha are okay...

I'm a long way from the problem areas (I'm in a suburb of Melbourne, which is probably around 2,000 km or 1,200 miles away from Bundaberg).

Brisbane has also been hit by floods. Michael Ross lives near Brisbane (on the Gold Coast), I spoke to him yesterday and he's alright. One of my brothers also lives in Brisbane, and he and his family are okay, too. (My brother's place was flooded out in the floods two years ago, but they've since moved to higher ground, and where they are now is much safer from flooding.)

I'm praying for Steve and Susha's welfare, though.

Best wishes,

Dien

Hi everyone, Susha and I are OK... The water stopped short of both my place and Susha's mothers. I just got my electricity back a little while ago but her mom is still without hers. Lucky I have a camp stove for emergency cooking. Bought it after the 2010/11 floods and it came in handy the last few days.

This was the worst flood Bundaberg has ever experienced.

Cheers,
Steve

Hi Steve,

I'm glad and relieved to know that you, your wife, and her mom are all fine!

I saw some pretty terrible-looking pictures of Bundaberg on the news...

I know there will probably be a big clean-up once the flood waters have receded. However, it's great that your house hasn't been affected...

Back in the early 2011 floods, one of my brothers (who lives in Brisbane with his family) had his ground floor apartment flooded out. He spent something like 11 hours moving as much of their stuff as he could to an upstairs apartment (thanks to the kind occupants of that apartment), while the flood waters were rising. They still lost some of their furniture when their apartment eventually flooded, but luckily they managed to save most of their things.

After the flood water receded, they were left with a thick layer of mud on the floor of their apartment, which was then also declared uninhabitable. (They were renting, so they had to move.)

Thanks for posting an update, Steve...

Best wishes,

Dien

Steve,

Glad to read everyone is safe and fine. You guys must think you are American. If it ain't fires, it is floods or big time droughts.

Again, very happy you and yours are alright.

Tom
