Pinterest for Profits! Really?

Excuse my ignorance but what the... do you do with it? Does it make you money? Do you really have to be invited? What has your experience been? Do you actually use it?

Pinterest is open to all now. It is used as a platform of social media marketing. It is mainly effective for B2C brands. Probably clothing lines, travel/ holiday agencies etc. It is mainly a photo sharing platform.
