This is one of the areas I have started to develop simply because the staple Magic show income has dived temporarily due a spate of competition from (mostly) amateurs receiving Government hand-outs and part-timers.
They work real cheap and usually once per venue but muddy the well for a while from time to time.
I continue to be amazed that the base cost of something is the ONLY thing many consider important.
The costume work which I have done in the past has convinced me of a couple of things which are necessary;
There must be 2 people, one in the cossy (good Australian word) and one to guard their tail especially if the costume has a tail.
Try the costume and accessories out beforehand in private. I have my own outfits but have used other's gear on occasion. Every one is different with their own own quirks and traps.
Get the best gear you can.
