How do I find a product I saw on TV?

Hi!

I just saw the tail end of a commercial for a book I want to buy, but because it was a stupidly made commercial I didn't get the 800 number or website. I don't even know what channel it was on: Animal Planet or Discovery, something like that.

I did all the kinds of web searches I could think of, using the book's title, and came up with nothing.

Is there another way of searching that someone can suggest?

Thanks in advance,

-Boyd

You could try www.deja.com , to see if it's been mentioned in the newsgroups....

It is based on experience.
I guess you have an equivalent in your area of "The Trading Post", a newspaper style magazine composed entirely of buy & sell advertisements?
That is where I would look first and I would risk a few dollars placing a "Wanted to Buy" advertisement, even maybe in your local newspaper.
A friend pointed out some time ago that many people buy the products because of perceived value or a damn good informercial but do not use them.
So you amy save large amounts and find the box may never have been opened!
Beleive it or not

Found it, and other fascinating stuff

Hi,

Thanks for the info, Gordon and John, I've bookmarked and filed away your pointers for future use. I found the book using Dien's method, actually, but decided not to buy it.

The book was called "How To Pay Your Bills Supernaturally" and when I caught the tail-end of a commercial advertising it I smiled real big and said "I must know what they put into a book with that title!" I did a quick newsgroup search, as Dien suggested, and quickly found the author's name, as well as links to an archive of parodies of Jack T. Chick's tracts. Since I wasn't familiar with Chick I then looked at the business he built and the real tracts he produced over the last 40 years. I also found some links to articles about the Faith Movement that told me stuff I was amazed at.

Anyway, I decided against purchasing the "Supernatural" book for various reasons, though if I see a copy at Abebooks I'll probably grab it.

Thanks so much, y'all for the information you gave me! It's been an eye-opening day on the net.

Best,

-Boyd

Boyd,

The commercial runs here offering the book for free. If you want, I can get you the free 800 telephone number.

I ordered it to see what happened...was solicited several times before receiving the "free" booklet... and am still on the list. I won't name names for wisdom's sake.

The booklet is based on Bible text that may or may not be applicable or applied in context. "Truths" that are in the Bible are still true. Just because a man may misapply them do not make them untrue. "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." (John 8:32)

Further specific discussion would probably be best done with private email...

I know what you mean

Hi,

I know what you mean, that's why I didn't order the book or even disclose the author's name. In my message I accidentally made it seem that the author was Jack Chick, which it isn't, of course.

Best,

-Boyd
