First feedback from craigslist ads.

First two weeks. Advertising on craigslist Akron, for classes and lessons.

Basic funky little posts (for now), not much to them. But, some results already.

My lessons for lessons in Copywriting has been up three weeks.

There have been a few interested and TWO wondering if I was for hire. I replied it would depend on the assignment. More eyeballs than I thought, too many don't know what copywriting is.

Internet Marketing Lessons. Got a few quick responses for this one, although very few knew what Internet Marketing meant.

Fastest response for how to set up a blog or forum. Same day responses, and two actual prospects.

plus a few new visitors to the forum.

OK. Next month I'm going to create better promotions and expand into Cleveland and Canton, maybe Youngstown. And add some "contractors", like the guy offering to teach you Wordpress (he gets 200 bux for 2 hours).

Also, I found talking to people on the phone, who really don't have a clue about the Internet to be refreshing, more open minded to ideas and more willing to try new things. Although, when I ask, What do you want?

I still get a lot of "not sure", "don't really know"...so probably be adding a FREE SQ1 workshop to the mix.

It will be interesting to see what these promotions look like in 90 days.

Already looking for an "office". although may start with a co-op place.

And speaking of BARTER...

This week I'll be posting several craigslist ads, for fun and maybe profit.

I'm going to see what people might offer in the Barter section for a wide variety of offers.

Borrowing a page from Glenn O., I'll be testing headlines too.

Which, if any, of the following "courses" would be of interest to you?

1) How to Start Your Own Cult for Fun and Profit.

2) Instant Persuasion Techniques for Quick Cash Today.

3) The Taboo Patterns of Hypnosis which Should be Outlawed

4) How to Buy and Sell on Craigslist for Daily Profits

5) How to Find Your Ideal Job in 90 Days

6) Create Your Own Payday with Internet Marketing

7) Your Perfect Golf Swing in Only an Hour

What has been interesting, so far, is how diverse the offers on Craigslist are for lessons and courses across America.

March will be a big TEST month, and I'll keep you posted on the results.

This week, I'll be expanding the posts and adding more sales elements.

I suspect I'll be forming a small group of chattelers very soon. Since I have the workbooks, The Chattel Report and Craigalist Quick Profits, the actualy teaching will be pretty easy.

Getting chattelers to pull the trigger and then to stay with it, will probably be the challenge.

Thanks for your time and your vote.

Here is my ad for today,

http://akroncanton.craigslist.org/cls/5472924510.html

Already rec'd email on it.

March I'll have all kinds of stuff offered, then, when I get the numbers, I'll start.

Probably gonna have Chatteling as an on going course at Gordy U.

Thanks for letting me know.

Gordon Jay

PS. There will be a progression of promotions too, from these simple ones to more structured like a Udemey class with overview and syllabus. Will the "more I tell" translate into the more I sell?

Hi Gordon
Very interesting thread.
I have had very mixed results with Craigslist
ads so it is interesting to see what works for you.
I too like number 4 line and maybe the hypnosis
one.
A possibility you might want to consider is youtube
videos. They cost nothing if you do them yourself
and getting ranked locally for lessons should be easy.
I am putting up some youtube videos and I have learned
of a special technique to get them ranked which works
even better for local businesses.
I like the ad to build a cash cow website. I am tempted
myself!
Maybe you could offer an online option and get more clients?

Thanks, you have some good ideas.

This, for me, is a fiddle-fart project, not a serious business or money making effort, more of a hobby at this point, sort of shaking the trees to see what falls off.

I'm going to go with the flow, but, if we see a trend or if something sparks an interest, maybe we'll pursue it with a more structured effort.

My own experience with a free online classified ad...

Hi Gordon,

Thanks for sharing this...

TESTing is very important, and can be very revealing...

Thanks for sharing your own tests, and what they are showing you...!

Around the middle of last year, I tested my own online (free) classified ad...

Here's what it said...

-----
We buy houses in [my state]. Save on agency fees and time.

If you need money fast, and don't want to pay agency fees, then call
or send a message now.

[X] years of experience in buying property.

Please send some details about the property for a quick response.
-----

I was testing to see what kind of response I got...

I did get people calling me who didn't want to sell through an agent. One was selling a house in the country (however, I was only interested in city properties). Another was selling a house in an area I didn't know very well (I wanted to stick with places I knew)...

Because I didn't know the areas that people who had properties were calling me from, I wasn't sure whether they were offering to sell to me at good values or not. However, I was surprised I got any calls at all...

Not every offer has to be a good deal. Even if just 1 in 20 calls were "good deals" you could make money doing this...

(Even if you didn't have the money to buy, you could still make money by using an option... Rules on real estate options vary from state to state, and country to country, so you gotta look that up yourself for your area...)

In the end, I pulled the ad (my focus went elsewhere)... But I would run it again in the future, in a heartbeat...

Best wishes,

Dien

Re: First feedback from craigslist ads.

Hi, Dien - interesting experiment - and, by doing it, you've clarified that you only want to get involved within a specific geographical area - so your ad next time will no doubt look slightly different.

That was time well spent!

Margaret
