What Democrats can learn from Donald Trump...
Love him or loathe him... You can still learn from Donald Trump. Whether you're a Republican, Democrat, Whig, Bull Moose party...
One thing Trump is, is a showman par excellence... That's one reason he got the Republican nomination, and one reason TV and radio stations loved having him on... (This is all apart from policies, etc.) More later... Best wishes, Dien |
Donald Trump and the four Bill Clinton accusers at the 2nd Presidential debate...
Quote:
He's amazing at getting attention! That's why the media love to cover him... I just watched the 2nd Presidential debate. One thing everyone was talking about was how, before the debate, he appeared with four women who have accused Bill Clinton (Hillary's husband) of sexual misconduct... This did a few things... * Donald Trump has been recently widely criticized for his extremely crude sexual comments, recorded "behind the scenes" 11 years ago (in 2005)... It helped to divert some attention away from him, and towards Bill Clinton... * However, it's was great "showmanship"... Undoubtedly, the TV networks would have loved it! It probably increased their ratings for the debate... * The other thing it might have done is unnerved Hillary Clinton. These four women were sitting in the audience... Four women who, it is said, had sex with her husband. Undoubtedly that would have affected her emotionally, having them sitting there in the audience, peering at her... (It's playing "dirty" - but they say all's fair in love and war... and probably politics too...!) * However, there's a risk in doing this, as it would probably also turn a lot of people off. I think Donald Trump figured he had little to lose by doing it, with the criticism he's been under the past couple of days... Love him or hate him, Trump is a master showman. I don't think showmanship, in itself, is enough to win an election (or to make a "sale" in itself)... But getting attention for your message is usually the first step, and he's a master at that. Getting attention is also the first step for any business, too... If nobody knows you exist, how can they buy from you? Best wishes, Dien |
Re: What Democrats can learn from Donald Trump...
Hi Dien, Trump is a counter puncher. Hillary hit him with her best shots in the first debate and he got caught up in defending his ego and he blew that first debate.. But he came out swinging in last nights debate. Expect him to knock her out in the 3rd round... but you never new what tricks Hillary will pull out of bag of tricks.
If Hillary and the media continue to attack him for things said on the Howard Stern Show Trump may just invite Danny Williams / Clinton to the 3rd debate. |

Steve, Great post. But, really, do you think American media will even remotely report this? Christ, we are less free, journalism wise, than Russians. They at least know Pravda is full of **** and they read it for the laughs. In this country people read it and believe the crap. Regardless, you did good as some of my Southern friends say... |
Trump's mistakes... and Clinton's too...
Quote:
Because of that, it's okay for a book or a magazine article... But it will never make "current affairs" - because there seems to be nothing new. On the other hand, the Trump tape - although the recording is from 11 years ago - is new public information, which is why it's considered "news"... They need something "new" if it's going to actually be "news"... That's just how the news media works... (I know this from my experience getting free publicity through media releases! If it ain't "new" they ain't gonna print it or broadcast it...) The second problem is that Bill Clinton isn't the one running for office... Hillary scandals are more relevant... There are plenty of them, but Trump has actually been quite poor at hammering them, and he's let her get away with quite a bit. He's spent way too much time hammering people like the Khizr Khan, that Latina Miss Universe winner, and so on. These things have been bait served up by Hillary, and Trump has taken the bait pretty much every time. She does it to distract Trump from her own scandals... An attack on these people is not an attack on Hillary at all, so for Trump to spend so much time attacking Khizr Khan, the Miss Universe winner, etc., is time wasted, as it's time spent not attacking Hillary. He's let her get away with a lot... On the other hand, Hillary hasn't let herself be distracted in the same way. Trump's parading of Bill Clinton's former mistresses is an example... Hillary has refused to even mention it, because she knows it's a distraction from attacking Trump directly. The two big mistakes I've seen her make is her stumble (said to be from pneumonia), and her calling some of Trump's supporters "deplorables"... Trump is far better at "showmanship," getting attention, getting publicity, and being entertaining. But the Clinton team are old hands at political strategy, and I think so far it shows... Best wishes, Dien (Election junkie, strategy junkie, free publicity junkie, and marketing junkie) :) |
Re: What Democrats can learn from Donald Trump...
Actually, at least in my humble opinion, this election (US) has been a great lesson for all of us. It shows how politics is obsolete. On one side we get, to quote a TV show, a Turd sandwich and on the other we get a giant douche bag. You pick which is which.
Our (all of us in the free world) need to change the way we do business. If Michelangelo really said “Criticize by creating” none of the political parties, upstart race movements, old hat race movements, religions, et al have failed. Why? They occupy only one side of the criticize by creating paradigm. Public education is a great example. I won't go into the lengthy specifics but will list 2. Many school districts have eliminated homework and in class discipline. Where the hell is the creating in that mess? Imagine if we dropped the political labels, democrats, republicans, torries, members of parliament, etc and just became citizens. Imagine if we dumped the federal bureaus of education, drugs, environment and justice. Do you think we could still function as a society? Imagine if we eliminated real estate taxes but had a one time pay. I mean a person would pay a set percent to the guvmint when they bought the house, say 7%, and never pay another dime in RE taxes as long as they lived there. This isn't new. It is being done in about 6 or 7 countries as I write. So I don't sound like the wife and female beater John Lennon I will quit with the imagine scenarios. But, I bet, you can imagine what to imagine. Dien, have you ever been to Niue? Not part of this post's intent just wondering. |
