Default Re: Newsletter Letter Sign Up Methods

I once purchased a great deal of subscribers from another company, but, the results were not good. Most of the people unsubscribed, and many sent me Spam messages, even though the list was "double opt-in". On the other hand, a very high percentage of subscribers coming from other more targeted sources have stayed. Anyone have any experiences with paid subscribers ? This difference doesn't make much sense to me.

Thanks.
