The subscribers I purchased through Lead Factory are single opt-in. I have a fairly low unsubscribe rate but a lot of the subscribers (about 12%) have hotmail or yahoo accounts. A lot of these people seem to subscribe to ezines willy nilly.... maybe looking for something they're never going to find. Anyway, they let their mailboxes fill up and so I do get a lot of bounces... but that is true no matter how they get on my list.

I get customers using hotmail or yahoo accounts making $1000 purchases from me so I'm not going to block these particular domains.

I send out a sample issue of my ezine with the welcome message. That way if it's not what they're looking for I am actually encouraging them to unsubscribe. I put a lot of effort into most issues of my ezine so I only want subscribers who really want to receive the ezine.

I've been very satisfied with paying 20 cents or so per subscriber.
