I think the short answer could be, if he asks, you answer something like "trade secret" - or find some other way not to tell him. You can also always put the "stuff" in another bottle (take it out of the original bottle it came in).
You don't have any obligation as far as I know to reveal your business secrets.... Just like Coca Cola doesn't have to reveal its formula.
If the gas station owner doesn't like it, he doesn't have to hire you. However, he'll still hire you if you solve his problem for him for what he thinks is a reasonable fee....
