Many registrars already do this automatically. I have several domains registered at 000domains.com. A couple of them were about to expire. They began sending e-mails at 90 days out, then 60, then 30. I think godaddy.com, (where I have other domains registered - it's cheaper and there's no difference in the service), does the same thing.

Did I let my domains expire? Nope. I decided to transfer them to godaddy.com. Cost 15.50 to transfer two domains. Re-registering one at 000domains would have been 13.50. Hmmm. Got 2 done for only 2 bucks more. Service difference? None. There isn't much for them to do most of the time. And the transfer was pretty simple. *Nothing* like the pain NSI made me go through in the past.

I just thought of something else. What I saw on godaddy yesterday indicated that there is a 45 day grace period even *after* the actual expiration date. I'm just a little surprised that Lori's registrar wasn't all over this.
