Default Joy Vs. Belief

You DON’T need to believe you can do it to be successful.

I’ve heard so many successful people say, “I always knew I’d make it. I ALWAYS believed.”

That’s NOT how it was with me. I NEVER thought I’d make it. 1993 was my 15th year driving a county bus in Miami & Miami Beach. I’d started and failed so many businesses, I lost count. None was even close to a success. I couldn’t sell a lick. Did one dumb thing after another. I cost my family tens of thousands of dollars.

But a funny thing happened along the way – I had discovered writing was a joy for me. I bought tapes, went to seminars by the top people in marketing. My writing got better. I studied ads written by masters, used their techniques in my ads.

Still no money. But I couldn’t quit, because it was fun. I wrote a script for an audiotape that I recorded. In June of 1993, I placed a twenty-dollar classified ad offering free information. When people called, I sent them a flyer about my tape.

And they ordered. That ad was profitable the first week. And eight years later, my business has made lot of money. I retired from bus driving in August, 1994.

Do I believe now? Yes. I do. But I never believed back then. And if you don’t believe you can be successful, so what? Just find something that’s a joy for you – and do it. Something you’d do for fun, even if you never got paid.

I’s out there. And you deserve that joy. Not to mention the money that comes with it.

So here’s a simple technique that’s really hot. This’ll help you get past the part where your mind says, “You can’t do it.” You know those times you try and fail and start thinking, “It won’t work for me?” When you hear that thought, just answer, “Okay. But if it did, how would it work?”

Keep asking yourself that question. Write down the answers. You’ll come up with the missing parts.
