RE: Is it profitable?
I think that a lot of people will think it's 'profitable' to do it and try it themselves.
It may or may not be profitable. Don't know and it's hard to tell because the spammers who may be making money at it keep changing their email and web site addresses.
So let's say you receive an email from '
[email protected]' one day and '
[email protected]' the next. It actaully might be the same person.
You can't really brand yourself if you're a spammer.
I don't believe it's profitable though - to spam I mean. The more likely scenerio is that the people creating the software and services are profiting by selling their stuff to an unsuspecting 'quick money making' public.
After all, the offer is pretty enticing, "Just send these emails and make $1,000,000".
But tracking profitablity in this 'industry' is impossible.
But my gut tells me it's not proftitable for the 'average' person who is actually doing the spamming... Unless you're like the guy in the January issue of MaximumPC who crowned himself the 'Spam King' who says he's making $1,000 a day.
But I'm wondering if he's making money on spamming or selling the services and software to would-be spammers????
Don't know, but I suspect that's the deal.
