Great post, Dien! I may have gotten higher than my "gentleman's C" in college physics had someone explained the laws of physics in real-world terms.

Re experiencing them in action, your post gave me the insights that my seminar/sales business reflects Newton's laws daily.

I present website hosting and marketing services for a new CBS/Viacom subsidiary, and have given over 40 of them in the past two months. How the laws apply:

The Law of Inertia applies to those who do or do not attend. Out of 30 registrations, maybe eight companies show up on average. The rest allowed themselves to remain on course or sit still depending on their circumstance. Those that attended applied energy to at least investigate new business possibilities.

The Law of Acceleration/Deceleration applies to those who listen with an open mind for new knowledge (acceleration) or those who dismiss the information based on pre-conceived notions, fears or other motivations. The info is good, my presentations are interesting (so I'm told:-)) and you can see the spark of accelerated knowledge in those who actually gain knowledge, whether they buy or not.

The Law of Action/Reaction applies to the selling process itself. If I present the information in an interesting, informal, interactive manner with a sense of humor, and give out marketing and other info beyond the sales pitch, then those who reacted positively to the above two laws invariably buy. The key is my going out of my way to take actions to understand and reach my audience. Their reaction is absolutely determined by my actions.

So, old Sir Isaac actually wrote a sales training program with his laws! No wonder he retired a wealthy man:-) Thanks again for the post.
