Thanks, Sandy, for sharing your experience. I have personally run into all of those and quite a few others. Unfortunately, the top-down practitioners protect and accept all these unsatisfactory and demoralizing habits as a price of doing business because they simply don't know another way. What they don't know is that well treated and highly motivated employees, those who "feel" a strong sense of ownership of their work, are 3-5 times more productive.
