I think your best bet is to go with a "custom" solution like Ankesh said... However...
Alternatively, some membership software you can use is Amember
http://www.amember.com. Note that this just provides the "membership" capability, and anything else you want on the site (eg. photo display capabilities) would have to be provided by other software, which can be run from "within" the membership section...
