Agreed.
And I think - from a business point of view - it makes sense to give preferential treatment to a group of people if:
1. More of those people will start buying
2. And the reaction from people who aren't a part of that group isn't extremely negative
Giving discount to the Gay community in the West - imo - meets both the above criteria. Very few people will have as strong a reaction as you.
(Not saying that your reaction is right or wrong. Just saying most people won't care enough one way or the other. And so its a good idea from a businesses point of view.
