Elizabeth, it's a good question....

Richard Dennis did this and he had success with that approach.... He wasn't recruiting, just selling the product....

He first sold the MLM nutritional product as "back end" sales to an audio tape he had recorded.... But as you read, it seems that being able to write a good ad was part of the key....
