I believe that the search results are for
overture only and not the whole internet.
Although they may take into account clicks from
sponsor ads on partner sites.

It's generally a good guide however some results
are strange. I got a keyword phrase that
overtures tool showed 36,000 searches for the
previous month.

Advertising on google adwords showed only 53
searches in one week. So if you're interested in
a phrase it may pay to check with the google ad
words predictions also.
