For the print pubs I did, I used Pagemaker to create a PDF file I sent to the print shop, or took to the print shop on a USB Drive. The print shop used Indesign.

One Glossy Mag Owner/Editor I spoke with said... he would write the editorials etc. in Word and send them and images to his Layout guy to put together as a PDF file the printer could use. His layout guy used Indesign.

As Todd said, it would appear that Indesign is becoming the Industry Standard.

I am quite happy with my old version of Pagemaker. And if I felt the need to upgrade, I'd go with Indesign
