PS
I liken it to driving.
And to put that into a Courier context...
Tell me where the pick-up is and where the drop-off is and leave me alone to drive there, get the package, drive to the drop-off location and leave it. But don't tell me how to drive.
And as I write this and think back to "jobs" I've gravitated towards (like the idea/thought/sound of and some of which I've done), I see they fit this very thing.
Dien, you've done some face-to-face selling now... how would you feel about doing it in a shop all day long with the boss watching over your shoulder?
Not quite the same, is it?
I'll happily start work for you in your commercial laundry, at 4 in the morning, and drive around picking up sheets and other such items from hotels/motels... as long as you give me the "run sheet" and leave me alone to do it. I CAN DO IT. I can be responsible for the laundry. And I relish it.
I'll happily deliver your packages... as long as you give me what I need to know and leave me alone to do it.
I'll happily drive around all night making sure your shop is locked and no crooks are stealing your stuff... as long as I know which properties are to be patrolled and you leave me alone to do it.
I'll happily make sure the campers don't have unattended fires and they don't feed the bears... as long as... well, I'm sure you get the drift by now....
leave me alone to do it.
I can handle the responsibility. It's what *I* want.
Michael Ross.
