Default Buying Back a GOAL Today…. A GOAL I Failed To Achieve Years Ago

Just the other day, I was thinking back to when I was a boy and some of the things I always wanted. You know the toys that were a big thing in their day. Those objects we drooled over but never ever got.

30 years later I still think about those things I missed out on.

I grew up with the best of the “007s” actors…. Sean Connery, the early James Bond films, when going to see “Fireball” or “Gold Finger” debut on the big screen on a Saturday afternoon matinee was the talk in the school ground on Monday morning.

Okay, I admit, I was a Bond “licensed to kill” junkie.

Two things I wanted back then was the gold Aston Martin model car complete with the passenger injector seat, pop up rear bullet shield and front mounted machine guns. The other was the golden hand gun that came in the felt lined case that included a screw on silencer, butt and scope that transformed it into a cool rifle only a spy like Bond would use.
(If you can’t remember them…. Then you’re too young).

I had set myself a goal to own them, but my pocket money always went on silly other things, so I never got them.

Back in the late sixties, a month’s pocket money and they could be yours.
Today, both these “toys” are now collector’s items, and either of them in mint condition could set you back a month’s wages or more!

One of my goals is to buy both these items. Not for their collector’s value, but for the attainment and my own piece of mind, of a goal I failed to achieve back then.

It made me realize a number of things….

1. Never put off buying the little things we want today…. They may cost you much more years from now.

2. The things in our possession we’ve forgotten about, like that old original Apple PC in the attic, or one of those first “red display” digital watches, or an old postage stamp in our long forgotten dusty stamp album could be a collector’s item worth thousands today.

3. If you still desire or want something just as strong many years later…. Then it’s worth pursing and going after. That “want” has stood the test of time and your determination.

How about you?….. What were some of the more unusual “little” things you always wanted and many years later still desire. (Apart from the usual million or so dollars, dream home, and red Ferrari).

P.S. – Wanted: Original James Bond Aston Marton DB6 and golden gun going cheap.

P.P.S. – “Injector seat” must still work!

Warmest Regards
