One of the things you're best at is writing killer sales letters.

I usually save copies of them when I see them, such as the one I linked to below.

I suggest your golf site should be just a text sales letter employing your superior writing skills. Keep the grass background with the letter overlay a la Marlon (here's a shameless brag: did you know Marlon hired me to design the look 'n feel of his Amazing Formula letter--I designed the white letter with red border that he's still using; of course, Marlon wrote the genius copy contained in the letter, I just tweaked the look 'n feel).

If you take my suggestion, make your sales letter one long page, rather than having links to the next page like the Example below does. You can have stacked floating frames so the page loads just as quickly. Porno webmasters have proved that one long page sells better than serially linked pages.
