A touch of paradise.... :)
Hi Mitch,
That's an interesting idea! It wouldn't cost you much to test, over the internet for example (put a bottle on ebay or set up a web page)... :)
Here's an interesting story about something similar.... In 1994, I met a couple Brazilian women who were traveling through Australia, who I became friends with.... One of them was going to be in Australia for a whole year, since she was studying here for a year; the other was her sister, who was only here for a month or so.
Anyhow, one thing that she was doing was going to certain Australian beaches, and getting a test tube of sand from that beach, at the request of a friend of hers back in Brazil. This friend of hers was an avid surfer, and he wanted sand from famous Australian surf beaches. I remember driving her down to Bell's Beach - where there's a famous surf competition - so she could fill her test tube with the sand!
After seeing this, I was wondering about this too.... Would keen surfers overseas pay for test tubes of sand from certain Aussie surf beaches? (However, in Australia, I think it might not be legal to take things from the beach, which would probably prevent this from becoming a legal business.... I'm not sure what the laws are elsewhere....)
I guess, in this case, there *might* be a motivated market - surfers - interested in having sand from specific beaches related to what they love - that is, from famous surf beaches.
Would aspiring actors and actresses be interested in sand from Malibu, as inspiration? I don't know....
It's an interesting thought though.... :)
