I can't read Skip's mind, but I'm going to guess that he probably meant more something like, he doesn't make
public endorsements of products...
If that's what he means, it wouldn't mean he doesn't (personally) endorse them...
From what I know of Skip, I don't think he would promote a product he didn't believe in, and in this case, he personally tested it to check for himself.
