The "old" formula was similar...
Just write a book on the topic.
Having written a book on a topic, you are suddenly an "expert"... (Oprah awaits! Or at least, she used to...)
The "blog" approach is similar...
I recently found out there is a book titled,
"A Tortilla Is Like Life"...
What's the author's expertise? Maybe reading the future in tortillas (rather than in tea leaves)? It could be lucrative! (Plus afterwards, you get to eat the tortillas!)

P.S. Thanks Phil, that was a great post, and the point is also very true. Being perceived as an "expert" - either via a book or a blog - of course can only help your business...
