Default What should be the main concern is...

the readers! Let me explain....

Gosh, you sure think up some doozies, Simon.... :)

I think the bottom line is that messages should be posted in the "right" place.... There are many places where even a message to help others might seem not to fit...

So I guess what I'm saying is that it depends on the forum.... There could be forums specially for these kinds of messages where it wouldn't be considered "spam" at all, but would fit right in....

In the end, if unsure, a person could always check with the people moderating the forum directly first.... :)

I don't know if that's very clear.... There are sometimes messages which appear here which I consider "borderline".... Sometimes I let them stay, and sometimes I delete them.... What is always first in my mind is the quality of the forum, and whether the message is something which people here would be interested in reading? (I also let the other moderators make their own decisions, I asked them to moderate because I trust their judgement....)

But it ain't always easy, as I'm sure you know from having run your own forum too!

P.S. I'm traveling at the moment, which is why I haven't been posting much lately, though I'm still reading (writing takes more time than reading).... I'll be back in full swing again by some time next week.... :)
