By the way, if you go to
,
Mike Brown has some great legal books that based
on what works, what doesn't etc.
Funny, but true story. In one of his books, I read
about depositions. He makes the point that sometimes just letting the person know that they
are going to be deposed (and asked, under oath,
a lot of questions they'd rather not answer), will
make them back off.
Anyways, there was this guy running around talking
about his $500,000 house, etc (personally, I think
he was just homeless). Anyways, apparently I called him a few choice names that he found offen-
sive. He threatened to sue me. Cute. I found out
about a week later that he was serious. So, I had
a freind of mine "leak" it to him that I was going
to depose him, and that since I was counter-suing,
and thus highly interested in his financial status as I wanted to make sure he could pay me if
I won, a lot of the deposition would involve his
holdings, real estate and other. Never heard from
him again. Wonder why?
