What I love about this story is it shows something I'm finding over and over...
When you help people - unasked, and even expecting nothing - you find that, 9 times out of 10, you get something back! It may not be immediate... it may even be a year or two or even three down the track, in some cases. But, often what you get back is also more valuable than what you gave...
I think the whole key is to give without expecting anything, with no pressure for anyone to give you something in return... For some reason, it seems to work...
When you keep doing this, over and over, over time you get to the stage where many people are trying to help
you... And you stop worrying about things, knowing that you have many friends who really want to help you out...
Oh, by the way, I guess I don't offer to help
absolutely everyone... I try to seek out people who are kind-hearted and good-natured, as these are the people I like to spend time with anyway. I also feel good about myself when I help good-hearted people like these. Maybe that's part of why it works, too...
