Hi Tom,
Wow, a surprising election result (given the polls)... Congratulations to Trump and his team...!
Trump's victory is history-making. I hope he helps "middle America" which has been neglected by successive government administrations...
The last president I can think of who had no normal US government experience was Eisenhower... Except that Eisenhower was the military governor of occupied Germany after the US victory in WWII. So Eisenhower did have governing experience of an
occupied nation...
However, Hillary had so many bad points. She cheated in the Democratic primaries, with the collusion of the DNC, to deny Bernie Sanders a fair shot at being the Democratic nominee. She probably would have won the Democratic primaries anyway, but the fact that she cheated, and was caught, I think turned off a lot of folks (especially Bernie supporters). Plus, her comments about "deplorables" illustrates better than nothing else her "elitist" attitude... She deserved to lose. The Republicans had a fair primary process, unlike the Democrats... And I think that helped them to win in the end.
There are probably more business opportunities with a Trump presidency - because change always brings opportunities. I've read that in Australia (where I live), real estate agents are salivating at the prospect of selling Australian real estate to unhappy Hillary supporters who want to move "down under." A friend of mine, who works as a migration agent (helping people migrate to Australia), said a Trump presidency would probably be good for his business... (Don't blame me, I just report it, folks!)
There will be plenty more opportunities that arise from change, as well...!
Best wishes,
Dien
