Default What you think is best for you....

may not always be the case!

Gordon, thanks for this post! It seems that sometimes in this area, we don't really know what we want.... Or maybe I should say we don't know what's best for us.

About a year ago, my ex-girlfriend and I broke up after about 2 years. In many ways, she's a wonderful person, but in other ways I can see (with hindsight) that there were difficulties there....

I've never mentioned this before, but in many ways, she was quite a catch. My ex-girlfriend is the daughter of a former Miss Vietnam. (I've sometimes had a weakness for Asian women.) The daughter of a beauty queen. I think this put a lot of pressure on her (for one thing). She seemed to always feel that she had troubles living up to her mother....

Also, her mother is apparently an extremely demanding woman, and my ex-girlfriend had learned these habits. I tend to be a generally easy-going guy, not too demanding of others but expecting others to accept me too. Anyway, while I still like her and respect her, we clearly had our problems.... (Though I always try to remain friends in the end.)

Anyway, I guess the gist of this is that, sometimes you just don't know what's best for you. Or, the flip side of it may be, what you THINK is best for you often may not be.

Thanks,

Dien

P.S. I'd heard of Gary Halbert's ad, but I hadn't read it before. It was fascinating! Thanks for sharing it, Gordon.... :)
