Re: Getting TRAFFIC and HIGH RANKING on SE's
Hi Don,
I agree with Paul's answer 100%.
You should also know the following, that is very important :
Most search engines will rank a site based on what keyword phrases are in the "Title", the "Meta Description" tag and then the "Meta Keywords" tag, in that order of importance. They also look to see if the words used in your title and description are in the body of the webpage submitted. This is a must. In addition, don't count on "keywords" to help you, use "keyword phrases", consisting of two, three, or four words. Also, make sure you use phrases that have the highest chance of getting you ranked high. It is best to stay away from keywords that everyone else is competing for. How do you figure all this out, you ask ?
1. Go to http://www.wordtracker.com
Enter your chosen keywords or keyword phrases and you'll get an automatic, free, reply of how many sites on Alta Vista are using the same keywords, and ideas for other keyword phrases you can use. It will also give you a KEI analysis (a measure of your chances of getting a high ranking for the keywords used). You're looking for KEI's over 400.
2. Go to http://www.rankright.com and search for prior articles on the subject of keywords, titles etc.
Do these two things really work ? I used them as prescribed and it gave me many first page listings on many search engines the first time out.
The above two secrets will help give you the success you're looking for.
One more point : Even if you get a large amount of traffic to your site, it does not necessarily mean you'll sell anything. Your sales copy has to be very good to get people interested. So, I would study this factor also.
