Hi Gordon,
Wow... Most of us suffer from lack of discipline every now and then!
Not having discipline is a drawback on the path to success... but one I believe you can conquer...
I've used many methods to overcome lack of discipline!
Depending on the task, some methods I've used are...
- Listening to certain kinds of music (I've found this good for "mindless" tasks in particular)... If it's something "mindless", I've also sometimes listened to "interview"-type YouTube videos while I do the task (where you don't really need to watch it, as the video is usually just two talking heads)...
- "Body doubling" (an ADHD thing) - I do it by working in a public space (such as a cafe or a hotel lobby), where there are other people around who I can see and who can see me, but who however, won't disturb me... I've managed more recently to get a similar effect at home using the
www.StudyStream.live app or website (free)... sometimes with and sometimes without my own camera on... I usually run StudyStream on my phone (where I can see it), while I work on my laptop...
- Sometimes I've used countdown timers to give myself deadlines... Here's an online one I've used in the past -
https://www.online-stopwatch.com/countdown-timer/ ... For one that sits on my desktop, I've used the free software, yTimer -

What do others do to discipline themselves to get things done?
Best wishes!
Dien

Discipline is one of the hardest concepts to understand and to apply. The secret to keeping disciplined is, begin habits, and let them become daily routines so there is no thinking about what you do.
You just do it. I think it is hard to see outside of sports today, and in IM and small business, it is a major lack of would be business success.
What kind of HABITS have you built upon?
