Don,
I agree. Every now and then the economy must dip, in order to control things. If it didn't slow down, sooner or later it would spin out of control.
The secret is what are you doing when it takes a dive. In 1979 I was a young man with a dream, and a new business. I was young, nieve, and optomistic. I was good at what I did, but didn't have a clue how to really sell my services.
When the economy was booming (early 79) they sold themselves. By late 1979 and early 1980 things were bad, and I was in trouble. Too much debt, not enough knowledge of marketing.
I ended up broke.
The same thing is going to happen to people now.
Looking back, it was my fault, and only my fault that I got into trouble.
That could never happen to me now, because I know how to market, and my debt is under control.
Yes, the next twelve months are going to be interesting, and very difficult for some.
By the way Gordon, I found this message board because I hear you've been saying good things about me. Thank you! And like Don, I too am interested in your story. -Mike McGroarty
