Could this be the ROPE that is holding you back?
Last night I met an old friend. I hadn't seen him for a while. A very talented fellow.
The past few years, he's been investing in property. I haven't invested in property myself yet, so I was interested in learning about his experiences.
He's really done well so far with his investments. We of course talked about our common interests and our common past....
Here is something that we talked about which I thought was very interesting.
Many people have some sort of mental block when it comes to success. They believe you CAN'T do some things, so they don't even bother to try.
Now, I'm not really a psychology guru. I work on my OWN psychology all the time, but I do know that your own beliefs can affect your success.
It's essentially what a lot of the motivational speakers say. You have to believe in yourself and your own abilities. Easy to say. Tough to do.
Gordon has mentioned this when he talks about the Pyramid of Accomplishment (POA). One of the early steps on the POA is to GO TO BELIEF. You have to BELIEVE you can do it.
It's not easy to really do it.
Here's one way. Spend time with your friends who believe in YOU. Undoubtedly, some of your friends will be always cutting you down, and telling you why you CAN'T do things.
But I'm sure you'll find some of your friends will tell you that you CAN do what you want.
Spend more time with these people, who support you and believe in you.
Some people are always telling themselves they CAN'T do something. When you question it, they say they are being "rational."
Maybe they think that. I like to be IRRATIONAL. I like to believe I can do anything. That all possibilites lay before me -- I just have to make the choice and put in the hard work.
It's a very EMPOWERING belief.
You could also EMPOWER yourself to be all that you can be with that sort of belief too.
When I was growing up, my parents always told me that I could do whatever I wanted to do, achieve whatever I wanted to achieve. Like all children, I believed what my parents told me. I believe this has laid the foundation of my success in life.
Now, if you are a parent, I would like you to consider this. Teach your children the same thing. Teach them that they can achieve all that they really want to achieve, IF they put in the dedication and hard work.
And for yourself, try to believe in your own abilities. Reflect on those surprising achievements you probably already have. If you have those achievements already, and you were truly let go, think what else you could do?
I hope this helps you....
