Re: Just curious...What do you think about Start-Blaze/Exit-Blaze-type techniques ?
I ABSOLUTELY HATE having windows opened automatically on my computer.
The fact is, unless you can ascertain the exact use to which I put my computer, you have no idea of how many
resources are already in use, how many windows I may already have open, and whether or not your
"pop-under" will crash my machine.
The other annoying thing is that, too frequently, those who use pop* simply don't implement them well. Frequently the "submit" button isn't visible, the page can't be resized to make it so. And, If I DON'T close the window, intending to subscribe after I've viewed the site, there is no information that relates the little window to the site that spawned it.
I generally make it a rule to close all that annoying stuff first. If there are too many (I've been on sites that pop 3 or more little windows) I simply shutdown my browser, and never return.)
Of late, I've set my firewall to prevent outside execution of scripts (java, activex, etc.) If the site absolutely requires it, I just leave. If there's enough interesting stuff without it, I might turn those functions on just to see.
(The sites that spark my interested enough to reset my firewall rules are VERY FEW, and VERY FAR in between.)
