Eyes, huh?

I did Gordon's experiment briefly this evening during a 30 minute grocery store trip.

Everybody I made eye contact with smiled in return to my smile. I carried on a 5 minute conversation with a woman in the coffee aisle, and converted her to my brand. It wasn't selling. She just wanted to know why I'd pay more when brand X was a dollar cheaper. So I told her.

Let's see, standing between 2 guys in the checkout lane, we carried on a lengthy conversation about the ball game tomorrow. (I'm not a football nut. I pay attention to that and baseball to honor my folks. Mama was the football nut, and Daddy was hell to live with if the Cardinals (baseball) lost.

After I read Hypnotic Marketing, I'm going to do the experiment again, this time concentrating on people who don't/won't make eye contact.
