I've been so busy with my day job, that I haven't had time to ___________(fill in the blank).
So, today, I planted trees. The little sticks that you get for free from the Arbor Day Foundation. And before I finished planting the ten twigs with roots, it started raining.
Didn't stop me. I got soaked, but I got my trees planted. And my two boys got to play in the rain, too.
You see, this was therapy for me.
I don't need ten more trees.
I've got ten acres of trees, hundreds of trees, maybe thousands.
But when you spend week after week overseeing a project where there are too many chiefs and not enough indians, trying to meet a deadline set by bureaucratic misfits, all the time wishing you could take a hike, and never look back...
Well, planting trees in the rain helped me get through one more day.
Will I ever get so uncomfortable in my comfort zone that I break out of the box? Only God knows.
Counting my blessings,
JDB
