The only way to learn if it works for you is to test, test, test. Even if it does not work for you it does not mean it can't work for someone else. That is the way business works, my friend. That way there are not real guru's because their methods might not work for you. It depends on a lot of things they don't or can't tell you because they don't know, maybe.
