Default Profit from flipping horses... or cows...!

You've heard of flipping personal property ("chatteling")... You've heard about flipping houses...

How about flipping horses?

Here's a podcast about a lady who makes some money flipping horses!

How To Flip Horses For Profit
http://www.offincome.com/ofi-373-how...gh-school-ffa/

The part about flipping horses starts at 13:40 mins in...

The lady who flips horses, Martje, is 18 years old. She lives on a farm near Big Timber, Montana.

What she does is she buys a project horse, then works on it (breaking it in, training it), to sell it for a quick profit.

She won't buy anything older than 10 years, and likes to buy at 4 or 5. She then gives the horse a solid foundation for rodeo horse riding, and sells it.

Which brings me to another one...

A guy I know makes passive money flipping cows!

How does he do that?

He lives on the edge of the city (of Melbourne, Australia), and effectively has a small farm. On his farm, he has a herd of around 100 cows.

He doesn't spend any time doing anything with them... He has a completely separate business which brings in his living income (he's in the building trade).

He's renting the land quite cheaply. The farm land owner is generally waiting to be able to subdivide the land into residential plots (and he'll make a killing when he can do it). I imagine the land owner is waiting for the local government get around to permitting him to subdivide.

So, what does this guy I know do with his cows? He buys them as calves. They pretty much graze all day. When the cows become adults, he sells them as beef cattle for a profit, and uses the money to buy more calves! (He doesn't breed them as far as I know, just buys them as calves, and sells them as adult cows.)

Because there's no snow where he is, and he doesn't have to feed them (there's enough grass for them to eat), for him it's a passive side-business... Flipping cows!

He also uses the extra land for chatteling... From heavy equipment, to other items (usually related to the construction trades, like doors, or shower bases and screens)...

There are more podcasts here on the Off-Farm Income podcast, for rural business stories and potential opportunities, for those who are interested...
