I got it used on eBay a while ago for around $135. They seem to be going for about $110-$120 used on eBay now. Or $150 new.

It plugs in to your computer's USB port. It's powered by USB and sends the sound in through USB too. It has phantom power for your mics and it's own sound card. You'll have your sound card and pre-amp all in one package.

I bet with the mic and the Tascam US-122 and some recording software, you would have a great sounding setup (and for a lot less than the costs you mentioned before). Actually, the Tascam also comes with some software included, but I've never used it.
