****Sort of off the subject, but one of the areas that really interest me are the number of retirees who are now on line. My father LOVES using the internet. He and I have communicated more via email than we have in the last 38 years any other way! And my Mom is learning to type. Amazing.

****What I realized the other day is I have MANY more male business contacts than female. This concerns me AND inspires me. There is LOTS of room for growth for women, and I am privileged to mentor women as well...as for me it has been primarily men who are mentoring me.

****Elizabeth and all, have you read "The Princessa" by Harriet Rubin? I started re-reading it yesterday when a (male) friend of mine got me thinking on the topic of Women in Leadership. It is a fascinating read for both men and women, and I highly recommend it. It is "sort of" a Machiavelli for women, but it recognizes the power not of winning, but rather of besting....get the book and READ it for more of an explanation. It rings true to my very core.

Women are learning more and more to behave powerfully not in the mold of men and male leadership styles, but using methods wholly female and womanly. Up to this point, most of our models for leadership have been men, so we have used the male model. It is an exciting time for us and for our daughters. Much of what I work towards in this area is with my three daughters in mind.

Has anyone seen "Remembering the Titans" yet? It opened yesterday with Denzel Washington in the lead. A powerful film about times within my lifetime. In fact, I am exactly the same age as one of the main characters who was 9 when the movie was mostly framed. I thought about what the movie said about civil rights and relationships between ethnic groups. My comment though, was "This would not have happened in a girls sport, not in 1971 and not today."

I need to "steep" on this topic some more....like a cup of tea, my thoughts are getting richer and more vibrant as I sit with them.
