I was leafing through the book "Show Your Work" by Austin Kleon...
He has some good advice...
Don't keep your works locked up in the basement, under lock and key!
Let them out... let them breathe... and let the world see them and soak them in!
Too many of us have pretty fantastic works, hidden away...
To "make it"... you have to be "discoverable"... People have to be able to find at least some of what you've done...
Then they can appreciate it, and want more!
It's often happened that when I do an email promotion... Someone buys... Then they buy more of what I have on offer, even without me specifically promoting it...
They like what they got, and want more of where that came from...
It's a wonderful feeling...
But if they never discovered the first offer in the first place, they would never go ahead and make a second, and even a third order...
So - if you've got some great works gathering dust in the basement (or even on an old hard drive)... let it out...
By the way, just yesterday I was going through an old laptop I have, one I stopped using around 7 years ago.
There's a lot of great stuff on that old computer!
I copied some of it on to a thumb drive, and plan to archive the whole thing on a backup external hard drive in the near future, so it's easier to access...
And, I do plan to let more of it out into the world...
