Try again. California is already debating who wins the water wars, people or agriculture, since the heat-up is already causing problems there. Now, instead of debating and maintaining agriculture on already depleted soils in a climate quickly becoming unworkable and being over-run by people, why not think longer-term and consider planning for other, formerly unsuitable due to cold etc, areas, conversions to agriculture? That's the gist of the idea in a nutshell. It's not only California that will be heating up and drying up...other areas are, too, and will continue to do so into the forseeable future.

In the process of re-distributing agriculture, we could also take lessons from ancient cultures that utilize hillsides, or we can totally innovate our own solutions so that no matter what nature decrees we will have water to drink and food for the masses. The way to do this is to take the available resources and utilize the changed status of those resources to their best advantage in keeping with the changes. Why perpetuate what will, before too long, become unworkable when better solutions are possible?
