We have a US-Base Echelon Monitoring Station in Australia. It's out in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the country where there is little interference from stray signals. And far away from prying eyes.

Echelon works by Listening to phone calls. When certain Key Words are uttered, the call is recorded for later listening to by a human being.

So saying Bomb, Bin Laden and Bush in the same conversation May get the call recorded. But a human will then decide whether your call is of Interest and things will progress - or not - from there.

Else. There are 28+ cameras on one road between Brisbane and the Gold Coast. And we can even view some of the footage ourselves from other Cams around the city. Such as here http://www.mainroads.qld.gov.au/web/...s+and+web+cams (there are other sites with the same cam feed)

Police in this state have been granted Authority to enter your premises Without a Warrant. Laws to allow police to Confiscate cars they believe to be Hooning. And other Big Bro stuff.
