Hey Everyone,
I've been trying to think of a product or service that I can sell on a cd-rom, offline and in my local area. If anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks! Martin |

Here's something I did some years ago, on a FLOPPY. Main difference with a CD is you can get so much more info AND pictures on a CD. 1) Go to your local Chamber or Visitor Center office and ask them 2 things; a) WHAT do they send to "Out-Of-Town Inquiries"? b) How MANY do they send a year? 2) Put together a bunch of photos of the Town and surrounding area. 3) Create a "Alphabetical Category Listing of Businesses and Professionals" 4) Make some "Sample Ads"...showing a photo of the business and what they do. "In Fact: You could create a Website, then use a "Compiler" to condense the site down to an "EXE" file (which is what Compiliers do)...then ZIP it up and burn onto a CD. 5) Get the Chamber's permission to INCLUDE your CD into the "Inquiry" package. 6) Contact local businesses and professionals to have a Page in your CD for "x$" (I got $495 from each biz, to send to 800 inquiries a year. I haven't checked lately but, I'll bet there's over 2,000 inquiries a year now) 7) Have a nice Label made...dupe the number of CD's needed...put them in clear cases and deliver to Chamber. Put together a "WELCOME CD";
Again...info about the Town and webpages in alphabetical order INCLUDING Doctors, Dentists, Chiropractors, Pest Control, Carpet Cleaners....businesses and professionals who want to contact NEW HOME BUYERS. Compress the info with a "Compilier" and burn onto a CD. Get names and addy's from County Courthouse or Melissa Data.com Collect for 3 months at a time. Mail out Monthly. Now...even though Home Sales have gone down considerably, they have NOT come to a screeching halt. Don Alm "50 ways to make SERIOUS Money from Home" http://www.midasreports.com |

#2a..... JUST SELL THE "NAMES & ADDYS" ONLY....ON A CD....FOR $50/MO to anyone who would like to contact New Home Buyers. Get Names from Courthouse. List Cos won't let you re-sell their List. $50/mo x 100 = $5,000/mo for compiling a List. Ohhh...Question: Why wouldn't businesses just go down to the Courthouse themselves" Answer: They have "other" things to do, like "operating their biz". Martin,
Thanks for Raising this Topic. Love CD Roms. For Many Reasons... #1: Cheap to reproduce, which means #2: High Profit Margins because #3: Sell for MANY times cost. #4: More money in your pocket #5: You can make copies at home #6: No stock thanks to copying As Needed #7: Easy to mail One thing one fellow did was, Traveled state with Digital Camera and took photos of Tourist Locations. Turned photos into Digital Jigsaw Puzzles (there is free software to do this). Sold the Puzzle CDs in stores that sell Tourist Stuff. Michael Ross |

Another...
A while back I linked to online audios and PDFs of Foreign Service Institute's stuff - that is, US Govt Created languages courses in the Public Domain. Here's the link again... http://fsi-language-courses.com As it's Public Domain, there is No Reason why you couldn't put it onto CD and sell it. There are currently 27 languages available so that's Potentially 27 different products. Michael Ross |

Most people have CD players in their cars theses days...
An Audio Tour of the town on CD which is listened to while driving. So the listener travels around town By Themselves listening to the Tour On CD as they go. Could even have different Self Guided Tours... => Haunted Locations tour => Historical Locations tour => Big Business and Industry tour for us Capitalists => Cemetery tour - you'd be surprised => Big Brother Invasion tour of all the Spy cameras the Gummit has installed around town Michael Ross |

This one IS viable. Several years ago I purchased a German course from a large bookstore. It even advertised that it was developed by the FSI. It cost around $70, I would guess. Just for fun I clicked on the German course from the link given here. The audio was the EXACT audio that was in my "commercial" course.
With recent geopolitical changes, I would think some of the non-traditional offerings here should have increased demand. Thanks for the great idea, Michael! Kevin Palmquist btw, I never really used the course I bought. I took a much more expensive course in German...I met and married my wife in Munich! |

Alexander Hamilton Institute that is still in existence. Once was a famous Business School. Now it has a form and courses in Employment Law and Benefits only. They went out of the school business in the 1960’s. But this business had a great business course.
I am interested in several things. They offered courses in: Marketing Advertisement Salesmanship This school had a lot more courses than that. I took many of them as a undergraduate at Gannon College. But not any of the above did I take as an undergraduate. And I only took the one marketing in graduate school. I learned very little. What is the difference between these subjects? I know Marketing and have a ton of these books I even took a marketing course in Graduate School for my MBA. The guy heard of Jay Abraham but wanted my books because he had none. Do you know of any good books on advertisement and salesmanship? I have do have books by Hill and Stone that talk about Salesmanship. I also have Tom Hopkins “How to Master the Art of Selling. I have both of Clyde Bedell’s books on Advertisements. Maybe I do not need any more books. Or do I? I don’t really see much difference in these books Selling is selling. |

Remember in that movie which nobody really remembers the name of but always remember Catherine Zeta jones doing the most exotic twist ever
Anyway here's an exotic twist to the language course idea... How about a language course focused on pick up lines, dating and relationship language skills for non-native speakers. |
