Bob,

Files of type .exe in almost all cases cannot be "converted" into any other file type.

An .exe file is an "executing" program that is in a special computer format understood by your computer's operating system like Windows or UNIX. It executes the applications you use on your computer like Outlook Email, Internet Explorer, etc.

No point in trying to convert it or any other .exe file.

Default RE: exe files and how to handle them.

Bob, just get a copy of NOD 32 by Eset. Available at http://www.eset.com
It will check .exe files and make sure they're safe to install before actually opening/installing them. It's the top Anti-Virus program IMHO...hasn't missed an 'in the wild' nasty in many, many years. Some kind of record, eh?

Hi Phil,

Thanks for sharing the above tool (CCleaner) and all the rest! I can see this "thread" could be very valuable - and could even save people hundreds of dollars (or maybe even more)...

It's amazing what you can still get for FREE online!

By the way, I just downloaded, installed, and ran "CCleaner" (from your link), and it seemed to run well! I managed to "recover" 350 Megabytes from my hard drive!

So thank you for mentioning this... (And to everyone else too!)

- Dien
